ARSA Legal Defense Fund: Help Us Fight The D&A Rule!

ARSA on March 10, 2006 asked a federal court to review FAA's recently enacted drug and alcohol testing program requirements. The fight has not be easy -- and is not cheap. One way you can help support ARSA's effort is by contributing to the ARSA Legal Defense Fund (LDF).

All contributions to the LDF will be used to offset expenses incurred by the legal team assembled for the express purpose of fighting FAA's drug and alcohol regulation. The funds will not be used for lobbying purposes, which means your contributions will be tax-deductible. Most importantly, however, raising the funds necessary to see this legal battle to the end will send a strong message to FAA that, as a group, the repair station industry will not back down when the agency takes actions that we feel are in violation the law.

Contributions of any size will be welcomed into the LDF. Supporters kicked off the fund with contributions of $5,000 each. While we're conscious of the fact that such an expense is hardly minor for many members, we encourage you to consider the alternative: drug and alcohol regulations with an extended scope that, based on our survey information, will cost industry millions of dollars in initial and recurring costs. In a 2004 ARSA survey, 93 companies representing 325 certificated repair stations told us they would incur costs of $2.5 million up front and $1 million annually based on FAA's new rules.
