U.S. and EU Sign BASA - Implementation Pending
On June 30, the U.S. and the European Union signed the long awaited bilateral aviation safety agreement. The bilateral enables the reciprocal acceptance of certificates issued by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It covers airworthiness approvals and monitoring of civil aeronautical products, environmental testing and approvals, and the approval and monitoring of maintenance facilities on both sides of the Atlantic.
However, the agreement will not enter into force until after diplomatic notes are exchanged and the European Community has advanced a new fees and charges system.
