Another Extension for FAA Reauthorization
On Dec. 14, yet another extension authorization for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was passed into law. This most recent extension gives Congress until March 31 to reauthorize the agency, a task that has eluded lawmakers since September 2007.
While the House has passed its version of FAA reauthorization (H.R. 915), the Senate version of the legislation (S. 1451) has not been passed. Upon passage of S. 1451, the House and Senate bills will be conferenced, where several major differences in the proposed bills would need to be compromised.
The extra three months afforded by the recent extension provides a greater opportunity for ARSA members to become involved in protecting the interest of the industry and preventing harmful language from becoming part of any final legislation.
